The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) is the premier federal agency charged with protecting and enhancing America's treasured fish, wildlife, plants, and their habitats. USFWS works for the perpetuation of diverse and abundant wildlife because biodiversity is essential to maintaining the health of our environment, our families, and our economy.  USFWS maintains a network of public lands totaling upwards of 150 million acres split in to eight geographic regions and nearly 700 field stations.

CNT is looking to fill the position of a Records Manager to provide the lead support for records management and administration in the Montana Ecological Services Office for the USFWS. 



  • Sort and collate material, work with staff to develop appropriate records, scanning and copying records to CD, compiling records chronologically or by classifications; such as numerical sequence and using appropriate records software
  • Compile documents and records for the Field Office requested through the Freedom of Information Act.
  • Ensure that legal obligations are met for the creation and retention of both paper and electronic records
  • Control the number of records created and stored and identifying which records are to be preserved for historical and research purposes and which should be destroyed
  • Assist the clerical need in response to lawsuits and litigation issues which are on-going with the MT ES Field Office including the Sage Grouse status review.
  • Compile, categorize and convert to PDF, relevant documents for submission to Regional FOIA coordinator
  • Compile, categorize and convert to PDF, create index, hyperlink, date stamp and create binders for submission to SOL as required for litigation.
  • Handle other record and data management as identified and according to USFWS disposition schedule i.e. reports, files, DVD’s. etc.
  • Respond to customer help desk issues and periodically work in the code to address priority fixes



  • An associates or other two (2) year business degree
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite and strong computer software skills
  • Excellent communication skills; both oral and written
  • Office and administrative support experience
  • The ability to multi-task and a creative problem solver
  • Professional, reliable and dependable
  • Ability to successfully pass a drug screen and federal background check
