Position Description

This position will support the Cherokee Nation Red Wing engineering office supporting R&M issues specific to the HH-60G, UH-1N and TH-1H USAF rotary-wing aircraft. Selected individual will provide technical support, conduct research, assist engineering personnel, travel to aircraft locations as necessary, troubleshoot avionics systems if required, create reports on findings and solutions to task order requests.

Duties (Required)

  • Performs maintenance data trend analysis, failure mode and effects analysis updates, preventative maintenance package task updates.
  • Resolve electrical, avionics and EMI/EMC deficiencies on rotary-wing aircraft.
  • Isolate and analyze aircraft functional system deficiencies identify appropriate solutions and assist in producing all engineering data required to implement the improvements.
  • Performs research for all aircraft systems, malfunction analysis, modification, parts replacement, components repair, standards and specifications.
  • Recommends maintenance procedural changes and submits change recommendation documentation via change request channels.
  • Prepares, edits, and/or submits research, travel, technical and other reports.
  • Evaluate customer submitted Document change requests, Deficiency reports, Safety or Hazard reports, Accident/incident reports in order to evaluate failure modes and formulate solutions.
  • May attend and/or provide technical presentations at briefings, conferences and meetings for internal or external customers.
  • Assists engineers in developing and evaluating solutions, drafting technical instructions, developing parts lists, data collection, and root cause analysis.
  • Assist unit maintainers in troubleshooting aircraft.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers as required to accomplish tasks.
  • Work in a cooperative team environment or individually to produce solutions with little or no guidance.
  • Performs all duties on-time and on-budget. Identifies barriers, briefs leadership on deviations, and submits workarounds/solutions.
  • Must be available for no-notice/short notice travel to resolve critical issues on-site at customer location.
  • Performs duties in a safe manner and ensures safety standards are adhered to.
  • Perform various supporting tasks as assigned.

Specific Skills and Requirements

Required:

  • Current Secret Clearance – or ability to obtain/maintain a Secret Clearance
  • Must be US citizen
  • Hands-on aircraft avionics maintenance/troubleshooting experience.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and quality.
  • Must read and interpret drawings and schematics.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Read, write and communicate in clear English.
  • Must have or obtain a passport in case of foreign travel

Desired: 

  • Quality Assurance experience.
  • USAF Helicopter avionics experience.

Education and Experience (Required)

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent aviation experience.
  • Must have 6 or more years’ hands-on experience on military aircraft.

Other Factors (Optional)

  • Must be willing and able to travel to customer location CONUS or OCONUS.
  • Must be able to climb on aircraft, maintenance stands, and ladders, manipulate cockpit avionics controls, enter confined areas to access components, and occasional lifting or moving of items up to 35 lbs.
  • May be exposed to extreme noises from jets and/or helicopters and other flight line noises, exhaust fumes, electrical shock hazards, extreme weather conditions.
