Position Description

  • This position will be at the Cherokee Nation Red Wing office in Warner Robins GA primarily supporting the USAF Reliability and Maintainability issues specific to the HH-60G, UH-1N and TH-1H USAF rotary-wing, as well as other aircraft, test or support equipment. Selected individual will provide support, conduct research, assist other team personnel, travel to aircraft locations as necessary, assist troubleshoot aircraft systems/components if required, create reports on findings and solutions to task order requests.

 

Duties (Required)

  • Create engineering drawings, develop and conduct designs for component parts and assemblies for application on aerospace products in accordance with Military Standards and the ASME Y14 Standard.
  • Assure conformance to pre-established design parameters.
  • Work with other engineers, analysts and customer to help resolve challenging design problems.
  • Perform routine analyses to develop options or recommendations for company products and components.
  • Be directly involved in the development of products as part of an integrated product development.
  • Help develop product drawings, bills of materials, metadata, engineering change orders and design documentation.
  • Responsible for regulatory oversight of aircraft certification programs and continuing operational safety in mechanical systems.
  • Apply safety management principles using advanced engineering knowledge and risk management techniques.
  • Review and evaluate regulatory compliance of aircraft certification projects and initiation of safety determinations for continuing airworthiness.
  • Evaluate existing drawings for manufacturability and supportability.
  • Prepares, edits, and/or submits research, travel, technical and other reports.
  • Attend and/or provide technical presentations at briefings, conferences and meetings for internal or external customers.
  • Conduct research on aircraft components and systems using a variety of resources (FEDLog, JEDMICS, technical manuals, etc.)
  • May work for design approvals related to 14 CFR parts 23, 25, 27, 29 or 33 and other 14 CFR parts of the Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) as assigned.
  • Work in a cooperative team environment or individually to produce solutions with little or no guidance.
  • Perform all duties on time and on budget. Identify barriers, brief leadership on deviations, and submit workarounds/solutions.
  • Must be available for no-notice/short notice travel to resolve critical issues on-site at customer location.
  • Performs duties in a safe manner and ensures safety standards are adhered to.
  • Perform various supporting tasks as assigned.

 

Specific Skills and Requirements

Required:

  • Design experience in the Aerospace field.
  • Experience designing packaging and enclosures for complex systems.
  • Able to model physical systems using engineering first principles and calculations.
  • Experience using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and MS Office Suite
  • Must speak and write clearly in English
  • Must be U.S. citizen.
  • Must have or be able to obtain/maintain a Secret Clearance

 

Desired: 

  • Experience with military aircraft and MIL-SPECs. (Helicopter experience a PLUS)
  • DO-160 and DO-254 experience a PLUS.

 

 

 

Education and Experience (Required)

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or similar degree
  • Minimum of 5 years practical experience

 

Other Factors (Optional)

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week, M-F
  • Occasional overtime may be required
  • May require occasional lifting or moving of items up to 35 lbs.
  • Must be willing and able to travel to customer location CONUS or OCONUS.  Possibly very short notice.
  • May be exposed to extreme noises from jets and/or helicopters and other flight line noises, exhaust fumes, electrical shock hazards, extreme weather conditions.
