Our client, The U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Research (USAISR), is part of the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command. The USAISR is dedicated to both laboratory and clinical trauma research. Its mission is to provide requirements-driven combat casualty care medical solutions and products for injured soldiers from self-aid through definitive care across the full spectrum of military operations; provide state-of-the-art trauma, burn, and critical care to Department of Defense beneficiaries around the world and civilians in our trauma region; and provide Burn Special Medical Augmentation Response Teams.

Job Description:

Lab Manager with data analysis experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Deliverables):

Includes the following (Other duties may be assigned):

  • Collects, records, and organizes data, to include multimedia formats from advanced monitoring
  • instrumentation
  • Processes lab samples using ELISA methods
  • Performs data entry, spreadsheet organization, and database creation and maintenance
  • Properly maintains patient, subject, and sample documentation in accordance with local policies and regulations
  • Calculates results of assays and evaluates validity of data collected
  • Performs basic statistical computations on raw data such as: mean, standard deviation, and standard errors
  • Performs mid-level statistical computations on raw data such as: mean, standard deviation, standard errors, t-test, and ANOVA
  • Interprets results, prepares abstracts and posters, and assists in preparation of manuscripts
  • Assists with photography, graphics, and images for study presentations and publications and presents graphical representations of data and analyses
  • Produces and edits photography, graphics, and images for study presentations and publications and presents graphical representations of data and analyses
  • Participates in interpretation of results and assists in preparation of manuscripts and other reports and presentations
  • Coordinates planning, set-up, and collection of experimental data for the research projects
  • Coordinates with information management division to establish and maintain necessary client server applications for data storage and retrieval
  • Develops electronic spreadsheet for data acquisition, data mining, and integration of clinical data available as directed by technical point of contact or principal investigator
  • Conducts various aspects of research related tasks such as, but not limited to, literature search,
    statistical analysis using various software packages, compiles tables and graphs to communicate
    results, drafts interim reports, prepares abstracts, drafts and prepares, manuscripts
  • Compiles and analyzes information collected to verify accuracy, precision, and validity, identify issues and formulate recommendations
  • Communicates with mathematicians and statisticians to perform complex analysis such as a propensity analysis and statistical models
  • Develops and maintains research databases. Designs and manages specified databases while
    establishing and abiding by data quality control practices and procedures. Present qualitative and quantitative research results using various software applications.
  • Implements Macros within Windows-based software, designs pivot tables, and utilizes advanced
    statistical software packages, such as SPSS, SigmaPlot, JMP, and Prism

Supervisory/Management Authority:

This position does not have management authority or supervisory capacity.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a biological science or related field
  • At least 2 years of experience as a lab manager with data analysis involving advanced statistical
       applications.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  (example: specific software, soft skills, etc. – This gets deleted)

  • Must have experience with ELISA
  • Must have experience with statistical software packages, such as SPSS, SigmaPlot, JMP, and Prism
  • Prefer experience with one or more of the following: ROTEM, CAT, TEG, and Multiplate
  • Ability to be flexible with work hours to accomplish lab requirements
  • Embrace a one-team environment, working to aid in the mission of the research

This position is primarily performed a controlled office environment.
