SUMMARY

The mission of our client, the Walter Reed Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR), is to conduct biomedical research that is responsive to Department of Defense and U.S. Army requirements, and delivers lifesaving products including knowledge, technology, and medical materiel that sustain the combat effectiveness of the war fighter. The mission of the Behavioral Biology Branch, Center for Military Psychiatry and Neuroscience, is to evaluate and characterize occupational over pressure and its effects on immediate, acute and chronic soldier performance, health and safety.

We are seeking a Biomedical Research Assistant to support the team designing and executing research studies for the collection of blast over pressure data in field environments with active duty military units.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain a safe work environment, ensuring that the design complies with all safety and occupational health rules and regulations.
  • Ensure proper inventory of study equipment and laboratory supplies.
    Ensure that all study records and data are maintained in a manner that is compliant with government rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Ensure all equipment is ready for data collection to include maintenance and calibration of equipment, availability of adequate supplies and transportation to study sites.
  • Provide input on statistical design and data collection techniques.
  • Assist in ensuring quality control of a variety of field/laboratory data and review and in ensuring the accuracy of test results.
  • Perform other tasks as required to help maintain the efficacy of the research.

SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY

This position will have/not have supervisory authority.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Masters in biomedical engineering, neuroscience, or related field
  • Publications in peer reviewed journals
  • Experience with data analysis
  • Experience administering research programs
  • Experience with blast research a plus

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a favorable National Agency Check (NAC)
  • Must be a US citizen

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is conducted in a laboratory environment and in a military field environment. Up to 25% travel is required.
