Civil Engineer –  Airfield Pavements, Specialty Pavements   ( ID# 13643)

The Air Force Civil Engineering Center (AFCEC), headquartered in San Antonio, TX, is responsible for providing responsive, flexible full-spectrum installation engineering services. AFCEC’s missions include facility investment planning, design and construction, operations support, real property management, energy support, environmental compliance and restoration, and audit assertions, acquisition and program management.

 

Cherokee Nation Technologies is seeking a Civil Engineer with a concentration with airfield pavements, specialty pavements etc. to assist AFCEC in their mission.   This candidate can work from San Antonio, TX or Panama City, FL.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for assisting with facility investment planning, design and construction, operations support, real property management, energy support, environmental compliance and restoration, and audit assertions, acquisition and program management as it pertains to civil engineering with a concentration of programming and planning of on-base pavements
  • Assist the client in making investment decisions related to the repair, long-term sustainment and routine maintenance of paved surfaces.
  • Performs other job related duties as required.

 

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS or MA/MS degree from an accredit university in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Math or Math heavy sciences, or related fields is required
  • Substitutions will be considered based having specific and direct Air Force engineering experience
  • Three (3) to ten (10) years of engineering experience is a requirement related to: identification, planning, design, construction and/or facility maintenance
  • Experience with airfield pavements, including runways, taxiways, aircraft parking, helipads, airfield roads and ancillary paved and unpaved structures.
  • Knowledge of engineering with types of pavements, including roads, parking areas, walkways, other pavements and ancillary structures.
  • Familiarity and experience in pavement design and construction standards.
  • Experience with cost estimation techniques and software related to pavement (knowledge of PAVER a plus)
  • Understanding of destructive and non-destructive testing methods to evaluate pavement condition. 
  • Experience in CADD/GIS applications relating to fixed facilities (pavements, utilities and buildings)
  • Experience in leading others to achieve established goals and timelines.
  • Ability to work independently to achieve both broadly described and narrowly proscribed work outcomes.
  • Experience within Department of Defense Agencies or the uniformed services.
  • Air Force experience a plus but not required.
  • Appropriate college degrees required.
  • Ability to lead small teams of personnel a plus but not required.
  • Professional registration is a plus, but not required.
  • US citizenship required
  • Ability to pass a drug screen and a federal background check is mandatory
