Cherokee Nation Technologies (CNT) supports USGS in its leadership role in to work with others to provide the scientific understanding and technologies needed to support the sound management and conservation of our Nation’s biological resources. As an early technology leader, our client teamed with the Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection and Restoration Act (CWPPRA) on some of the earliest science visualization products, which included web development, many multimedia products, and congressional reports.

 

That relationship persists today as CWPPRA and other federal agencies continue to employ technologies to share program success with those directly impacted by coastal land loss and with citizens throughout our country who indirectly depend on a healthy delta and coastal zone.

 

CNT is looking to hire a Community Outreach professional to support our team in Lafayette.  The selected candidate will perform work to develop and implement a synthesized outreach program for the CWPPRA program including components of public, legislative, interagency, and educational outreach.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, coordinate, and implement new outreach programming and products;
  • plan and lead approximately three CWPPRA outreach committee meetings,
  • present outreach status at approximately three Task Force meetings, and represent outreach at approximately three technical committee meetings per year
  • Perform approximately eight updates of the CWPPRA community calendar as requested by the CWPPRA task force per month
  • Represent CWPPRA at a variety of public and professional outreach events throughout the year
  • Develop relationships with partners and the community; and update the CWPPRA outreach strategic plan as requested.
  • Make recommendations to the Task Manager and the CWPPRA Outreach Chair when material becomes obsolete
  • Coordinate changes to the CWPPRA website, especially sections that must be updated monthly or as needed include calendar of events, news releases, FAQs, and project overviews
  • By the 10th of each month, a monthly report describing the progress and status of work will be provided following a given report format

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Experience in environmental restoration efforts
  • Ability to act as a liaison between the public, Parish, Government, and the varies federal agencies involved in the work of CWPPRA
  • Knowledge and experience in creating Power point presentations; Microsoft skills and knowledge
  • Ability to plan and lead quarterly CWPPRA (Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection and Restoration Act) outreach committee meetings
  • Ability to present outreach status at quarterly Task Force meetings, and represent outreach at approximately four technical committee meetings per year
  • Ability to coordinate changes to the website, maintain calendar of events, news releases, and assume project overview responsibilities
  • Good communications and presentation skills
  • High level of organizational skills
  • Ability to travel; mainly locally in Louisiana
  • Teaching experience and compliance knowledge a plus
  • Ability to successfully pass a drug screen and federal background check
