Competitive Intelligence Specialist  Washington, DC (ID#13299)

The Competitive Intelligence Specialist will support multiple sectors and is responsible for gathering and analyzing competitive intelligence data to provide actionable information for cost/price proposals, in accordance with industry and corporate practices. This role will be responsible for aiding in the development and implementation of the company’s competitive intelligence function which includes customer and competitor intelligence and price to win functions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Includes the following:

  • Design, implement and manage competitive intelligence analytics and management presentations.
  • Manage the collection, retention and analysis of both competitor and customer intelligence data points.
  • Perform opportunity-focused competitive assessments.
  • Perform analysis on customer evaluation and award tendencies.
  • Provide expert insight and analysis of competitor and customer intelligence for use in price to win calculations.
  • Analyze and validate intelligence gathered by others throughout the organization.
  • Provide data and insights to proposal teams to increase the likelihood of winning profitable contracts.
  • Aid in the calculations and preparation of price to win exercises and management presentations of those findings.
  • Participate in the development and standardization of competitive intelligence procedures and knowledgebase.
  • Perform ad hoc analysis.
  • Participate in tool identification and implementation.
  • Performs other job related duties as required.

SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY

This position may have supervisory/management responsibilities

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree in business or related field of study and at least 10 years of competitive intelligence experience in a government contracting setting. Pricing, business development or capture management experience in a government contracting setting is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities and changing schedules.
  • Ability to lead by example and train staff as needed.
  • Knowledge and ability to effectively implement lead and perform competitive intelligence efforts for both CONUS and OCONUS opportunities.
  • Knowledge and ability to design and implement a competitive intelligence function across multiple business lines and companies.
  • Ability to develop detailed knowledge of customer buying patterns, competitor bid tendencies, and assess competitor technical/business strategies and capabilities and the resulting impact on pricing and communicate this information in an actionable manner to pricing and proposal teams.
  • Advanced understanding of government contracting.
  • Advanced knowledge of intelligence sources and tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as an ability to speak confidently in front of an audience.
  • Strong time management, planning and problem solving skills. 
  • Ability to learn and understand new software quickly.
  • Proven success in collaborating with multiple groups to achieve desired goals. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The duties of this position are primarily performed in a climate controlled office environment. Occasional travel and overnight stay is required.
