JOB SUMMARY:

The Defense Health Agency (DHA) is a Combat Support Agency supporting the healthcare needs of our war-fighters and beneficiaries throughout the Military Health System (MHS). The DHA is embarking on the monumental task of taking over management and oversight of all MHS Direct Care Facilities by October 2018 as mandated in Public Law 114-28, the 2017 National Defense Authorization Act. This transition is to achieve greater standardization of healthcare across the MHS and streamline management of healthcare activities. This new era will require increased knowledge sharing, agility, integration, and continuous improvement to positively influence the success of the current and future health of all stakeholders served.

CNT is seeking a Curriculum Developer and Instructional Design Professional to assist with the DHA Clinical Support Division (CSD), Patient Safety Program (PSP) and The Office of the Deputy of the Assistant Secretary of Defense Health Services Policy and Oversight (HSP&O) Programmatic and Technical support contract.

This contract provides programmatic and technical support for the DoD PSP, DHA CSD (Medical Affairs/J-3), and the Office of Assistant Secretary of Defense (OASD) Health Affairs (HA) HSP&O in the following areas;

Updating and improving current curriculum, developing new curriculum in the patient safety arena, and providing subject matter expertise to any of the customer work streams with regards to adult learning, the ADDIE model and curriculum development.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Includes the following:

  • Provide guidance for the planning, development, implementation, coordination, oversight and evaluation of educational activities designed to enhance the DoD PSP initiatives.
  • Promote the development of a community of patient safety instructors.
  • Provide administrative and functional oversight for the design and development of specified web-based, distance learning, as deemed most appropriate for enterprise-wide dissemination (including integrated the Joint Patient Safety Reporting System and Global Trigger Tools in learning activities.)
  • Provide support services in the development of a core patient safety curriculum, and assessing compliance with educational objectives of the patient safety program.
  • Develop and implement educational outcome methodologies.
  • Develop distance-learning strategies for the patient safety curricula.
  • Assist faculty in the design of classroom-based, televised and online courses, and in the development of instructional strategies and course materials.
  • Assist in the design and development of learning events/webinars; provide faculty development in effective teaching strategies and the adaptation of teaching strategies to multiple media environments, including simulation.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • A Master’s degree is required; PhD is preferred.
  • Four (4) to ten (10) years of direct experience with Curriculum Development in the Military Sector, Defense Health Agency (DHA) experience is preferred.
  • Highly proficient in applying the adult learning theory, including the ADDIE model to Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate curriculum.
  • Good organizational skills and excellent communication skills both oral and written.
  • Ability to multitask and meet aggressive deadlines.
  • U.S. Citizenship and DoD government security clearance NACI required.
  • The ability to successfully pass as drug screen and a federal background check is mandatory.
