We are seeking a Database Administrator that will be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining various internal/external databases.  Monitor and optimize database performance and tuning of database operations. Generate complex queries and reports. Perform a wide range of database administration functions, including running test queries, troubleshooting database problems, maintaining version control of database entities, advising customers on new database features, and leading studies to evaluate the effectiveness of current database methods and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides functional and technical advice to system users ensuring timely implementation of enhancements to the existing systems and to obtain maximum utilization of automated systems.
  • Ability to deal effectively with operating officials and functional staffs in gathering of factual and opinion data and in the discussion of significant, controversial automation issues. 
  • Provides advice and guidance to the government and other team members on systems to assist them in their daily decisions and identifying desired system enhancements.
  • Prepares and coordinates operating instructions relative to operation of systems and exports to all users.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally to interpret system requirements for users, produce work products, make presentations, and explain points of view. 
  • Develops, accumulates and analyzes a variety of statistical data including charts, graphs, or reports reflecting effectiveness and efficiency standings and planned versus actual accomplishments, including narrative explanations for variations indicated.
  • Writes and/or edits reports briefings, information papers and other informational material designed primarily to report functions of the directorate.
  • Prepares clear and accurate briefings.
  • Material requires analysis and selection of facts that are drawn from different sources and synthesized into unified presentations.
  • Based on an in-depth knowledge of programs, principles, and underlying objectives, identifies areas that could be improved through automation of processes.
  • Determines the most appropriate type of automated system and format and develops instructions for use.
  • Analyzes statistical data related to management or programs to identify trends or workforce characteristics that may warrant program changes and/or enhancements.
  • Develops statistical feedback reports and processes that pinpoint program deficiencies (or successes) that can be used by the agency making program modifications.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned.

 

Supervisory/Management Authority

  • This position will not have supervisory authority.

 

Education and/or Experience

  • BS/BA in Finance or Business is desired but not mandatory and 8 years of related experience.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a favorable National Agency Check (NAC).
  • Must be a US citizen.

Work Environment

  • This position is primarily performed in a climate controlled office setting.
