SUMMARY

The U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID) at Fort Detrick, Maryland conducts basic and applied research to develop products, information, procedures, strategies, and training programs, and provides for medical defense against biological threats and naturally occurring infectious diseases of military significance that require biocontainment.

The Information Management Division purpose is to enable the research vision of USAMRIID with first-class computer and communication services. This is accomplished by providing IM/IT management, strategic planning, IM/IT infrastructure, software application development and sustainment, communication, network, information assurance compliance and Help Desk services.

We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator to provide certified database administration support for Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and FileMaker Databases.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Take responsibility for the installation and sustainment of databases defined in the USAMRIID IT portfolio.
  • Support the development and sustainment of Oracle, MS SQL Server, and FileMaker databases, including database design, performance tuning, database backup, database restore, and database replication, and develop plans and procedures to support those activities.
  • Plan and lead migrations from existing application versions to latest application versions, including configuration.
  • Perform requirements analysis, query optimization and table normalization.
  • Develop and supports intranet and intranet web database applications. Tests database performance and functionality in response to required upgrades to operating systems and web browsers.
  • Design database tables, stored procedures, triggers, and queries.
  • Maintain Interface Control Document (ICD).

EDUCATON AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Computer Science or related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications
  • 5-7 years of related database analysis and/or administration experience.
  • Self-starter and motivated to deliver world-class service to our customer base.
  • Security+ required
  • SQL Server and/or Oracle certifications required
  • Clearance Requirement: A favorable National Agency Check with Local Agency and Credit Checks (NACLC) or ability to obtain/maintain clearance.
  • Must be a US citizen
