Cherokee Nation System Solutions (CNSS) is partnering with the U.S. Geological Survey Southeast Region who serves the Nation by providing reliable scientific information to describe and understand the Earth; minimize loss of life and property from natural disasters; manage water, biological energy, and mineral resources; and enhance and protect the quality of life.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support the Operations Manager and Program Manager in the creation of contract operational plans and budgets
  • Assist with ensuring performance on contracted efforts by executing approved plans, controlling and reporting progress relative to the established contract cost, schedule, and quality standards, and following project management standards
  • As a corporate representative, maintain continuous and effective communication with the customer organization to obtain a common understanding of their expectations
  • Assist with management and performing direct contract financial functions including budgeting, purchasing, travel, payment approval, invoicing, and receivables control
  • Management of software development staff.
  • Management of Information Technology systems support staff.
  • Perform other management duties as required

Supervisory/Management Authority:

· This position does have mgmt. authority or supervisory capacity

Education and/or Experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Geology, Environmental Science or a closely related field is required
  • Three (3) years of experience with managing a software development staff, information technology systems support staff, well as GIS staff as well as government contract management

 

  • Experience with ESRI tools suite, specifically ArcGIS

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) resource and geospatial programs.
  • Familiarity of the United States Geological Survey (USGS) geospatial programs and products is highly desired
  • Problem solving and critical thinking skills are a must
  • Excellent communication skills; both oral and written
  • Travel to site locations as needed
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Have the ability to successfully pass a background check and drug screen.

Work Environment:

· This position is primarily performed office setting
