Design & Construction Project Manager (Civil or Electrical Engineer  ID # 12854)

Our client, the Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC), is responsible for providing responsive, flexible full-spectrum installation engineering services. AFCEC relies upon Cherokee to provide facility investment planning, project programming, design and construction support as the Design and Construction agent, and acquisition/program management support. The unit conducts its operations at more than 75 locations worldwide.

We are currently seeking a Design and Construction Project Manager to assist the US Air Force at Misawa Air Base, Japan, on design and construction projects supporting the Air Forces’ MILCON and Facility Sustainment Restoration and Modernization (FSRM) programs

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide engineering expertise on Civil or Electrical engineering matters for housing and related projects.
  • Manage multiple, simultaneous engineering projects in various phases of execution (from concept, planning, design, award, construction, closeout, etc.) working closely with local stakeholders, execution agents from other agencies, and technical experts.
  • Work as part of a team (contractor and government personnel) to support 35 CES/CEN's mission and internal operations to ensure quality products and services.
  • Support may include planning, programming, cost estimating, budgeting, acquisition, execution, and closeout for assigned projects, as well as the day-to-day project management tasks of setting up for meetings, taking minutes at meetings, ensuring follow through by others, drafting memos and briefings for others, and some light physical office work such as carrying boxes and supplies.

 

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction or closely related field is required
  • Five (5) years’ experience in a federal design/build or construction environment is required; US Air Force, military or Dept. of Defense (DoD) experience preferred
  • Experience managing engineering projects through various DoD execution agents (NAVFAC, Army Corps, local contracting, etc.) is desired
  • Team-oriented with excellent computer and communication skills; both oral and written
  • Ability to obtain necessary government clearance (minimum of a NACI/SF85) and a Common Access Card (CAC) is required
  • Ability to pass a federal background check and a drug screen is required
  • U.S. citizenship is required
