CNSP is looking for an Engineering Technician/CAD Operator-Journeyman to support the Department of Energy (DOE) Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) Headquarters in Lakewood, CO and support our team providing technical services to the Office of Design and Engineering under this Technical Support Services contract.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Construction Technical Specification preparation
  • Compile drawing index
  • Verify drawing status in DIS
  • Verify drawings listed and drawing titles match
  • Assemble multiple drawings into one combined document in the proper order, ensuring that the drawings listed and drawings provided match in drawing number and title, and that the table of contents accurately represents the internal document.
  • Number the drawings according to the drawing index
  • Specification release to customer
  • Coordinate transfer and release of assembled specification, including Project Drawings, Specification and Bid Schedule to correct customers based on Regional Office.
  • Filing prints/drawings into substation, transmission line and facility reference notebooks, removing previous revision level/superseded drawings

Supervisory/Management Authority:

  • This position may have supervisory or management authority as delegated.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Candidates must be US Citizens.
  • Candidates will undergo a US government federal background investigation and must be able to favorable pass a drug screen.
  • A minimum of High School diploma or equivalent (GED) and an Associates’ degree is required.
  • BA/BS or MA/MS degree in engineering with an emphasis on CAD is highly desired
  • A minimum of five (5) years of related experience is required. 
  • Must be proficient in either AutoCAD 2012, 2D & 3D, Civil 3D or PLS-CADD.
  • Experience with engineering electronic and manual drawing management, archive files and aperture card storage/retrieval systems. 
  • Experience with document management, Microsoft Office Products and Windows 7.
  • Utilizing and applying computer software including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of design and drafting practices and construction engineering is required.
  • Working knowledge of Quality Assurance principles is required.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state codes/guidelines is required.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional and courteous manner in diversified situations.

This position is primarily performed in a secured federal office setting, a controlled office environment as well as working outside in a job site environment.
