Epidemiologist Analyst (SAS Programming) ( ID # 13125)

Our client’s vision is to be the central epidemiological resource and a global health surveillance proponent for the U.S. Armed Forces.  They provide timely, relevant, actionable, and comprehensive health surveillance information in order to promote, maintain, and enhance the health of military and military-associated populations.

 

We are seeking an Epidemiologist / SAS Programmer to aid in that mission.  The right candidate will be responsible for the following:

 

Responsibilities:

  • Support a variety of data requests to extract and conduct analysis on data from the Defense Medical Surveillance System (DMSS), which contains data from multiple systems across the Military Health System
  • Perform ad hoc queries and provide customized reports based on a data in the DMSS
  • Provide analysis for Medical Surveillance Monthly Report (MSMR) articles.
  • Provide SAS programming support to long-term requests from organizations conducting longitudinal health research studies on behalf of the Dept. of Defense (DoD)
  • Execute data analyses using scientifically sound, state-of-the-art epidemiological methods
  • Supports multiple tasks simultaneously and independently
  • Assists fellow staff as required regarding epidemiological study design, bio statistical methods, and/or SAS programming tasks
  • Completes other health surveillance tasks as required

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher required (Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Public Health)
  • Significant experience (3+ years of daily to weekly coding) using SAS, including SAS macros, data step programming, Proc SQL, and/or using ODS or other methods to deliver results to Excel
  • Experience with analyzing claims data, data from large government surveys, or other large (>1 million records) datasets and/or experience with Military Health System (MHS) databases preferred
  • Experience conducting programming and interpreting mid to advanced level statistical analysis (e.g. survival analysis, Poisson regression) preferred
  • Successfully pass a drug screen and federal background check
  • A Public Trust clearance is required for this position
