SUMMARY

The mission of our client, the Marine Forces Reserve (MARFORRES), is to augment and reinforce active Marine forces in time of war, national emergency or contingency operations, provide personnel and operational tempo relief for the active forces in peacetime, and provide service to the community. As citizen-Marines, the men and women of Marine Forces Reserve will be community beacons by living the Marine Corps' story of daily service to family, community, and nation.  MARFORRES HQ oversees 275 Reserve units located in 48 states around country.  

We are seeking a Finance Analyst to provide financial and administrative services in order to ensure effective, efficient and accurate business operations. The Finance Analyst must comply with the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and MARFORRES financial and personnel policies and procedures.  The Finance Analyst reports to the Finance Officer and provides the following services:  processing and monitoring payments and expenditures, processing and monitoring receipts and revenues, and other administrative functions as required. Providing these services in an effective and efficient manner will ensure that agency finances are accurate and up to date and that vendors and suppliers are paid within established time limits.   

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform the day to day processing of financial transactions to ensure that agency finances are maintained in an effective, up to date and accurate manner. 
  • Receive and verify funding documents and requisitions for goods and services
  • Verify that transactions comply with financial policies and procedures
  • Prepare, verify, and process funding documents and coding payment documents
  • Prepare batches of funding documents for data entry
  • Data enter funding documents for payment
  • Process backup reports after data entry
  • Maintain listing of accounts receivable and payable
  • Maintain the general ledger
  • Maintain updated vendor files and file numbers
  • Maintain updated Revenue Source files and file numbers
  • Print and distribute monthly financial reports
  • Provide administrative support in order to ensure effective and efficient office operations
  • Monitor and order office supplies
  • Prepare purchase orders for signature by authorized signatories
  • Maintain a filing system for all financial documents
  • Ensure the confidentiality and security of all financial and employee files
  • Completion of monthly and quarterly Activity Reports

SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY

This position will not have supervisory authority.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A High School Diploma is required, Bachelor’s Degree is preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
  • Proficiency in the use of MARFORRES financial software – MFS – not required but a strong plus 
  • Must have at least two (2) years of recent and successful employment experience within an office administration environment with exposure to financial processes and procedures

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Knowledge of office administration and accounting procedures
  • Knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable and maintaining general ledgers
  • Confidentiality concerning financial and employee files
  • Awareness of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Excellent interpersonal, team building, bookkeeping, analytical, time management and problem solving skills
  • Effective verbal and listening communications, organizational, and computer skills including the ability to operate computerized accounting, spreadsheet and word processing programs, and email at a highly proficient level
  • Superior financial calculation understanding, knowledge and skills
  • Ability to work well with other managers from a wide range of department areas
  • Ability to work flexible hours as required
