CNSS is looking for a GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER in Ft. Worth, TX to support the Natural Resource Conservation Services and the National Design, Construction and Soil Mechanics Center (NDCSMC). The National Design, Construction and Soil Mechanics Center (NDCSMC) is made up of two staffs or branches. One staff is the NDCSMC-Design Center staff. This staff reviews complex engineering designs from field offices and state offices from across the agency.

Job Description:

  • These projects are engineering structures, and many are projects involving human health and safety. The NDCSMC-Design Center has the highest level of engineering skills and disciplines within NRCS, but for some projects the NDCSMC may not have the necessary skills on board to per-form reviews needed to ensure public health and safety.
  • The contracted staff must have the necessary skills to support NRCS staff for producing a robust design review.
  • Projects may be in any of the 48 contiguous states, Alaska, Hawaii, Caribbean Area (Puerto Rico and US Virgin Islands) and Pacific Basin Area (Guam, American Samoa, Micronesia, Pa-Lau, Marian Islands, Marshal Islands).

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Deliverables):

  • Engineering services for the design review of construction drawings for new or rehabilitated dam and other water resource related projects along with technical document development.
  • NRCS is seeking the services of engineers to assist with quality and technical reviews of pre-developed drawings or other technical documentation that could originate from the Government or Government contractors.
  • Candidates must have an active and current Licensed Professional Engineer in at least one above mentioned U.S. states. Candidates will be required to present this certification during the recruitment process.

 

Supervisory/Management Authority:

This position may require may have some supervisory/management authority and responsibilities as designated by the Program Manager.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Candidates will be subject to a U.S. Government federal background investigation and favorable pass a drug screen.
  • Candidates are required to have the legal authority to work in the United States of America. There will not be any sponsorship of Visas in any of its categories.
  • Candidates are required to be a Licensed Professional Engineer in at least one of the in any of the 48 contiguous states, Alaska, Hawaii, Caribbean Area (Puerto Rico and US Virgin Islands) and Pacific Basin Area (Guam, American Samoa, Micronesia, Pa-Lau, Marian Islands, Marshal Islands). Candidates must have a current and updated Professional
  • Candidates must have as a minimum a B.S. in Civil, Agricultural, Environmental, or Structural Engineering from an ABET accredited university/college. Having the ABET accreditation is a requirement.
  • Candidates must have a Minimum of five (5) years proven hands on professional experience in design and/or construction of engineering projects
  • Candidates must possess strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills in the English language.
  • Utilizing and applying computer software including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Candidates must have hands on professional experience with Department of State USDA policies, standards, and specifications
  • Experience working in construction engineering related to a large-scale Federal effort.

 

Work Environment:

  • This position is primarily performed in a controlled office environment in a secure U.S. Federal government building and candidate may be required on an as needed basis to work outdoors subject to diverse weather elements.
