Cherokee Nation Technologies (CNT) supports the U.S. Geologic Survey (USGS) across the United States. CNT is currently looking for an entry-level to mid-level GIS Specialist to assist the USGS, at their St. Petersburg, FL, site.

 

CNT is currently looking for GIS Specialist III level to provide technical expertise and assist in the research and mission

 

Responsibilities:

  • Investigating storm impact from Hurricane Irma (2017) on sea floor using pre & post storm Lidar or Multi-beam data
  • Qualifying changes in sea floor elevation in/around FL Keys.
  • Assist with the collection of data as needed.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marine Science, biology, Geography, Geology, or a closely related field
  • Two (2) or more years’ professional experience using HIPS & SIPS software
  • Demonstrable experience using CARIS software to process and editing Multi-beam sonar data
  • Experience in Python programming language is preferred, but not a must.
  • Excellent communication skills; both oral and written
  • Have a clean driving record and active driver’s license
  • The ability to pass a federal background check and a drug screen
