The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention provides administrative, research, and technical support for the Community Preventive Services Task Force. Support is provided by the Community Guide Branch, Division of Public Health Information Dissemination, Center for Surveillance, Epidemiology and Laboratory Services, Office of Public Health Scientific Services, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

To obtain subject matter expertise and technical support for production of Community Guide Branch's systematic reviews; presentations to the Task Force; compilation of Task Force findings; publication, public dissemination, and implementation of Task Force recommendations and findings; web development and administration; and Branch management and operations.

This position requires knowledge in conducting and disseminating results of systematic reviews on the effectiveness of interventions to improve population health. Involves collaborating with SMEs within and outside of CDC to conceptualize reviews; search or, critically evaluate, and abstract relevant scientific literature; and synthesize results. The position requires presenting results to varied audiences orally, in web documents, and in peer-reviewed publications. The work also involves major contributions to the conduct of complex, systematic reviews that are scientifically rigorous, incorporate diverse views of prominent subject matter experts, and are conducted efficiently. Experience in critical evaluation of studies with various experimental and quasi-experimental designs, ideally with specific experience conducting systematic reviews is required

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct systematic reviews on the effectiveness of interventions to improve population health, collaborating with SMEs within and outside of CDC to conceptualize reviews.
    • This includes searching for, critically evaluating, and abstracting relevant scientific literature; and synthesizing results.
  • The contractor shall deliver a total of 90 abstracted studies with appropriate data and quality scoring and present 3-4 systematic reviews to the CPSTF.
    •  In addition, the contractor shall deliver the client methods course one time to an internal or external audience
  • Collaborate with SMEs within and outside of CDC to conceptualize reviews; search or, critically evaluate, and abstract relevant scientific literature; and synthesize results
  • Conduct searches for, critically evaluating, and abstracting relevant scientific literature; and synthesizing results.
  • Deliver abstracted studies with appropriate data and quality scoring and present two systematic reviews
  • Present results to varied audiences orally, in web documents, and in peer-reviewed publications
  • Contribute to the conduct of complex, systematic reviews that are scientifically rigorous, incorporate diverse views of prominent subject matter experts, and are conducted efficiently
  • Deliver or assist in delivery of the branch methods course to an internal or external audience
  • Provide operational support

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's or Master’s Degree is preferred in Behavioral Science or related field
  • 5 to 10 years' experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge in conducting and disseminating results of systematic reviews on the effectiveness of interventions to improve population health
  • Experience in critical evaluation of studies with various experimental and quasi-experimental designs, ideally with specific experience conducting systematic reviews is required
