SUMMARY

The position will provide professional health communication and project management support for communication and partnership projects developed by the Division of Laboratory Systems

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop DLS standard operating procedures and job aids (e.g., Lectora style guide, project tracking SOP) and provide suggestions/edits to existing SOPs and job aids.
  • Write content for DLS programs.
  • Proofread and edit scripts, course content, brochures, reports, and other DLS program documents.
  • Participate in eLearning course reviews and pilot tests. The contractor shall compile all review responses and pilot test results into a written document to share with TWDB project team. The contractor shall include recommendations for courses changes based on review or pilot test results. Upon agreement from the project team, the contractor shall implement all changes into the storyboard. All final storyboards will need to be submitted to the project team lead.
  • Finalize the building of eLearning courses using the most cost-effective tool for long-term program sustainability. TWDB currently uses Lectora for most courses and occasionally uses Adobe Captivate.
  • Ensure courses are SCORM-conformant, can be hosted on TRAIN.org or other LMSs and use software that TWDB can access and maintain with existing resources and staff skills.
  • Manage and operate various learning management systems (LMS) – i.e., TRAIN, Blackboard, Pathlore, Moodle, Saba – used in the delivery of training and educational products.
  • 7. Troubleshoot content to monitor proper functionality and communication with the LMS, including preparing for and overseeing system updates, upgrades, and integrations.
  • Monitor the labtraining@cdc.gov email account and correspond within 3 business days with learners to resolve issues.
  • Upload and manage courses, users, and communities within various learning management systems (LMS) –e.g., Lectora, TRAIN, Blackboard, Pathlore, Moodle, Saba – used in the delivery of training and educational products.
  • Design and implement a TWDB file storage and file-naming strategy and write an accompanying SOP.
  • Document and monitor the progress of TWDB training projects and alert TWDB leadership if a project falls behind schedule.
  • Write a brief report (5-10 pages) comparing 3 to 5 task management software options (SharePoint, Wrike,Monday.com, etc.) in terms of initial and continuing costs, system features, and potential challenges. The report will include information on the extent to which each option meets CDC security requirements.
  • Conduct a functional test of the task management software option selected by TWDB leadership and write a report on the outcome and recommended next steps.

SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY

  • No supervisory authority

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's or Master’s Degree is preferred in Journalism, Marketing, Communications, English, or related field
  • 10+ years’ experience developing communication and marketing strategies
  • 10+ years’ experience Project Management Experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Must have plain language writing experience
  • Must have excellent technical writing, editing and analytical skills
  • The successful candidate can work well with all personality types, juggle multiple tasks, and maintain calm amid competing deadlines and in stressful situations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Work is conducted in a climate controlled office environment.
  • The environment may require prolonged sitting, prolonged standing, and light lifting up to 20 lbs.
