SUMMARY

This position will provide labor and mechanic operations during the course of this contract.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Includes the following:

  • Responsible for inspecting, diagnosing and repairing mechanical defects and failures on various equipment.
  • Repairs, rebuilds, or overhauls major assemblies of internal combustion automobiles, forklifts, trucks or tractors.
  • Washes, cleans, and lubricates vehicles and other preventative maintenance; loading, unloading, and storing parts and supplies; and maintaining work areas.
  • Performs other job related duties as required.

 

SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY

No supervisory or management authority.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

5 years of experience working as a heavy equipment mechanic in the field preferable with large tractors and decks. Must be able to work in an isolated area with limitations on the availability of facilities. Preferred experience on military base. Must be able to obtain base pass.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, drawings and technical descriptions.
  • Certified and licensed in state of Hawaii for specific equipment.
  • US citizen or US issued work permit.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions and must be able to use an inventory system.
  • Interpersonal skills; patience; problem solving skills; attention to detail; organization skills; accuracy; time management; basic math skills.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Extreme sound (e.g., machine tools, milling and turning), some outdoor weather conditions and all routine job tasks inherent in position; the ability to stand and walk one-third to two-third of the time; the ability to talk or hear; use hands to finger, handle or feel; close vision; color vision; depth perception and ability to correct and adjust focus
