Assemble or fabricate mechanical parts, pieces or products using a variety of tools and equipment according to required specifications in a specific area of a production line in a manufacturing organization.



Includes the following (Other duties may be assigned):

  • Assembles, repairs, and fabricates metal parts by operating mechanical equipment
  • Set-up and operates one or more types of machines in order to meet production demands
  • Sets and adjusts machine settings as necessary
  • Reads and interprets diagrams and blueprints to select, position, and secure machinery to ensure proper dimensions and tolerance levels of the finished product
  • Adjusts time settings to complete tasks accurately according to customer specifications
  • Read, interpret and follow blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately assembly equipment and products
  • Utilize hand held tools such as a hand held screw and drill gun
  • Responsible for managing WIP in work cell
  • Perform quality work checks to insure the product meets quality standards
  • Identify product defects and complete appropriate documentation when defects are identified
  • Rework and/or repair assembled equipment and products according to engineering specification changes
  • Perform all work in accordance with quality standards and established safety procedures
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area






  • High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years of experience
  • Basic reading skills.  Must be able to follow directions
  • Basic computer navigation and utilization skills
  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly
  • Ability to use thinking and reasoning to solve a problem and to think in such a way as to produce a new concept or idea
  • High attention to detail and self-motivation skills
  • Specific technical or vocational training or certification may be required; may be required to pass ruler test



An employee who is a B Class machinist is one who demonstrates the skill, knowledge and experience required to manufacture non-complex parts with little or no supervision. He or she must be able to make simple tooling, inspect parts and be able to edit programs as directed. One must be adequate in reading blueprints and possess adequate math skills. A Class B machinist will have good attendance, a good attitude and the ability to work well with others. A Class B machinist must also have the basic tools required to perform his or her job.



Moderate sound (e.g., business office with office machines and computers, people traffic), some outdoor weather conditions and all routine job tasks inherent in position; the ability to stand and walk up to the entire shift; the ability to talk or hear; use hands to finger, handle or feel; close vision; lift and move up to 50 pounds; color vision; depth perception and ability to correct and adjust focus.

Hours are Mon – Thur  8 p.m. – 6:30 am


Eligible employee classification:  Full-time, part-time, or temporary status employees; At least 90 days in current position; In good standing in terms of your overall work record such as job performance, attendance, and have not received a written warning in the past 30 days of the job opening.
