Position Description

 Instructional Systems Designer

· Create design plan for training projects (paper, CBT, WBT, video, DVD).

 

Duties (Required)

 

· Create design plan for training projects (paper, CBT, WBT, video, DVD).

· Develop concepts/themes and instructional strategies for projects.

· Create reports, design plans, and storyboards within timeframe given.

· Advise Task Lead or Project Manager of scope issues.

· Coordinate with graphics and programmers in developing paper, IVT, video, CBT/WBT projects.

· Work on a variety of assignments on an as-needed basis.

 

 

Specific Skills and Requirements (Optional)

Required:

  •  4+ years of training-related experience
  • Must have extensive knowledge of the Instructional Systems Design model to design, develop, plan, and organize training programs.
  • Thorough knowledge and demonstrated experience of the ISD process in the development of instructor-led training (ILT), web-based training (WBT), and blended learning solutions (BLS).
  • Experience working with authoring tools such as Articulate, Captivate, and Lectora.

Desired: 

  •  Awareness of capabilities of web/multimedia development tools such as Flash and Dreamweaver, and graphic design/manipulation tools such as Photoshop, a plus.
  • Understanding of and experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS), Electronic Performance Support Systems (EPSS), SCORM, and Section 508 desired.
  • Experience conducting a variety of types of analyses and needs assessments. Web 2.0 knowledge and experience a plus.
  • Ability to develop instructionally sound learning solutions and testing materials with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply creative instructional themes and strategies to a variety of delivery media, including classroom and online.

 

Education and Experience (Required)

  • B.S. or B.A. required in Adult Learning Theory, Human Performance Technology, Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, or Adult Education equivalent preferred.

 

Other Factors (Optional)

  • Part-time, 10-20 hours per week
