SUMMARY

Int II Sci/Eng/Sys Analyst performs human factors research activities in accordance with CAMI, AAM-500 requirements. This position involves planning, preparation, and conduct of human factors research projects to quantify and assess human performance data in a variety of laboratory or field conditions or collected from existing data.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Includes the following:

      • Complete all aspects of literature reviews: define appropriate search strategies, compile pertinent information and findings, and provide guidance for developing relevant research strategies.
      • Organize multiple research tasks.
      • Develop research protocols and develop IRB documentation.
      • Perform descriptive and multivariate statistical analyses of data, using SPSS software.
      • Prepare surveys, collect data, manipulate, and manage extensive databases.
      • Write and contribute to project-related reports, manuscripts, and presentations in APA style.
      • Conduct experimental protocol for collecting data from human participants.
      • Maintain research database, verify accuracy, and validity of data.
      • Performs other job related duties as required.

SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY

No supervisory or management responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelors in Engineering Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Social Psychology, Applied Psychology, Applied Social Psychology, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, or related program. Experience with research in social science and 7 years related research experience. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Strong computer software (Microsoft Office) skills required.
  • Knowledge of Statistics for the Social Sciences (SPSS) or SAS required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in Human Factors research and/or knowledge of aviation research is desirable.
  • Knowledge of statistical procedures to interpret outcomes from the various experimental tasks, database analyses, simulations, testing sessions, and data collection protocol.
  • Requires the ability to develop annotated bibliographies and communicates finding to the Principal Investigator (PI), collaborate with research task lead to modify and support the development of specialized measurement instruments, experimental protocols, computer databases, and analytic programs required for various research projects.
  • Requires the ability to work independently, prioritize multiple projects, and accomplish assignments with minimal supervision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work will be performed in a climate controlled office setting.
