Job Description:

The IT Project Manager will lead the Systems Team which supports a small group of developers and a larger user base. The team is responsible for the design, operation, and maintenance of a diverse infrastructure supporting 40 web applications.  Manage the execution of planned projects to improve infrastructure, while also handling the triage, prioritization, and assignment of unplanned issues. Work collaboratively with internal and external team members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan, budget, schedule and monitor IT infrastructure projects
  • Collaborate with the customers and stakeholders to define project scope, goals and deliverables
  • Create and maintain project plans
  • Coordinate plans with affected teams, identifying and managing dependencies
  • Manage risks involved in IT infrastructure projects
  • Define, estimate and schedule tasks and plan resource needs to develop and maintain realistic schedules
  • Manage documentation of IT infrastructure
  • Manage and prioritize and assign incoming, unplanned Systems Team tickets
  • Define, refine and enforce standard procedures and policies for managing IT services
  • Generate key reports showing metrics for system availability, service level objectives, uptime, average ticket resolution time, etc.
  • Manage inventory of physical assets and virtual resources
  • Create test plans, coordinate and perform testing of implementations.
  • Coordinate update releases and maintenance outages with stakeholders.
  • Maintain release processes and documentation.

Supervisory/Management Authority:

This position will provide workload management and task assignments for Systems team members

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or technically related field, or equivalent education/experience
  • Minimum of 7 years of technical experience
  • Experience managing teams using Linux and Java technologies is required.
  • Experience with container technologies including RedHat OpenShift and /or Kubernetes
  • Experience following Agile practices

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

· Ability to provide guidance to the supported software development teams concerning building secure and deployable software: champion standards, best practices, and process improvements; and suggest architecture improvements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Expertise in the planning and management of projects involving analysis, implementation, optimization, security, and documentation of IT systems
  • Knowledge of  Apache Tomcat, Baracuda, Java, Splunk, DevOps and JIRA

Work Environment:

This position is primarily performed in a secured federal office setting in a controlled office environment
