The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) is the premier federal agency charged with protecting and enhancing America's treasured fish, wildlife, plants, and their habitats. We are seeking a Jr. Java Developer to help support the efforts of the USFWS

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Jr. Java Developer will:

  • Develop, test, implement and maintain web-based application systems
  • Troubleshoot system problems and issues and look for ways to improve the application
  • Perform routine programming assignments that do not require domain knowledge or experience but require knowledge of established programming procedures and data processing requirements
  • Rely on instructions, pre-established guidelines, and existing code patterns to perform the functions of the job

Supervisory/Management Authority:

This position does not have management authority or supervisory capacity

Education and Experience

 

  • BS degree in Computer Science or related software oriented curriculum
  • Experience or coursework with Java programming or other object oriented languages
  • Experience with client side interactivity and design principals using JavaScript, HTML5 and CSS
  • Experience with Web Frameworks
  • Experience with Object Relational Mapping frameworks
  • Experience with Relational Database Design
  • Experience with Apache Tomcat or Other Web Application containers
  • Experience with cloud-based technologies is a plus (Amazon AWS preferred)

Work Environment:

This position is primarily performed in a secured federal office setting, a controlled office environment.
