Lab Engineer, Silver Spring, MD (ID#13857) Active Secret Clearance required

Cherokee Nation Strategic Programs (CNSP) supports Defense and other Federal clients in the execution of their critical strategic and operational missions, with emphasis in intelligence, vulnerability assessment, and special operations.

SUMMARY

Lab Engineer:  Responsible for managing and supporting the virtual and physical infrastructure for Microsoft enterprise systems.  Responsibilities also include supporting the server operating systems and COTS/GOTS applications hosted within the lab environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Managing and monitoring all installed systems and infrastructure
  • Installing, configuring, testing and maintaining operating systems, application software and system management tools
  • Ensuring the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
  • Implements quality assurance reviews and evaluation of new and existing hardware/software
  • Lead migration and implementation of new software, system upgrades, evaluates patches, resolves software related problems
  • Install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools
  • Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work to implement those fixes
  • Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies
  • Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on  tasks
  • Provide 2nd and 3rd level support
  • Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
  • Work within the Configuration Management and QA process

SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY

None

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or similar work experience
  • Azure experience
  • Experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting Windows Server based environments.
  • Experience in the administration and performance tuning of .Net application stacks
  • Experience managing hyper converged platforms
  • Experience with monitoring systems
  • Experience in scripting
  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    Nice to have and not mandatory:  MCSA, MCSE, Cloud+, Azure certs
