The 82d Training Operations (TO) needs Information Technology (IT) support to sustain specific aspects of the wing’s training environment at Sheppard AFB. This requirement is due to the fast pace changes in information technology, standard configurations, electronic technical data management and the expanding transformations in learning and instructional innovations. There is a profound need for IT expertise to support the transient student population and special projects. Areas of support are technical training classrooms, Standard Desktop Configuration (SDC), rugged tablet/laptop computers (eTools), electronic technical orders (eTOs), student account management, Common Access Card (CAC) Personal Identification Number (PIN) Reset Systems (CPR), as well as innovation/technology support for immersive training technologies, classroom modernization and mobile network device implementation.


Cherokee Nation Strategic Programs (CNSP) is seeking a lead IT support technician to provide support the 82d TO with network environment (NE) and advanced level Computing Environment (CE) support at Sheppard AFB, TX.



Lead IT Support Technicians will be assisting the 82d TO with the sustainment of specific aspect of the wing’s training environment at Sheppard AFB by performing a wide variety of IT related. The Lead IT Support Technician will focus on the enclave environment and support, monitor, test, and troubleshoot hardware and software IA problems pertaining to the CE, NE, and enclave environments.

  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in Information Assurance (IA) technology or a related area



  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Superior client interaction and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work core hours (0700-1600 hours Monday – Friday)
  • Ability to examine potential security violations to determine if the network environment (NE) policy has been breached, assess the impact, and preserve evidence.
  • Ability to provide support, monitor, test, and troubleshoot hardware and software IA problems pertaining to the NE.
  • Ability to provide recommendation and schedule IA related repairs in the NE.
  • Ability to perform IA related customer support functions including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, customer assistance, and/or training, in response to customer requirements for the NE.
  • Ability to provide end user support for all IA related applications for the NE.
  • Ability to analyze patterns of non-compliance and take appropriate administrative or programmatic actions to minimize security risks and insider threats.
  • Ability to manage accounts, network rights, and access to NE systems and equipment.
  • Ability to analyze system performance for potential security problems.
  • Ability to assess the performance of IA security controls within the NE.
  • Ability to identify IA vulnerabilities resulting from a departure from the implementation plan or that were not apparent during testing.
  • Ability to provide leadership and direction to IA operations personnel.
  • Ability to configure, optimize, and test network servers, hubs, routers, and switches to ensure they comply with security policy, procedures, and technical requirements.
  • Ability to install, test, maintain, and upgrade network operating systems software and hardware to comply with IA requirements.
  • Ability to evaluate potential IA security risks and take appropriate corrective and recovery action.
  • Ability to ensure that hardware, software, data, and facility resources are archived, sanitized, or disposed of in a manner consistent with system security plans and requirements.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve IA problems in response to reported incidents.
  • Ability to research, evaluate, and provide feedback on problematic IA trends and patterns in customer support requirements.
  • Ability to perform system audits to assess security related factors within the NE.
  • Ability to develop and implement access control lists on routers, firewalls, and other network devices.
  • Ability to install perimeter defense systems including intrusion detection systems, firewalls, grid sensors, etc., and enhance rule sets to block sources of malicious traffic.
  • Ability to work with other privileged users to solve IA problems.
  • Ability to write and maintain scripts for the NE.
  • Ability to demonstrate proficiency in applying security requirements to an operating system for the NE or CE used in their current position.
  • Ability to implement applicable patches including IAVAs, IAVBs, and TAs for their NE.
  • Ability to adhere to IS security laws and regulations to support functional operations for the NE.
  • Ability to implement response actions in reaction to security incidents.
  • Ability to support the design and execution of exercise scenarios.
  • Ability to support Security Test and Evaluations (Part of C&A Process).
