Summary

 

The USCG Surface Forces Logistics Center (SFLC) Engineering Services Division (ESD) Electronics and Ordnance Branch (EOB) provides logistics support to Coast Guard and Navy electronics and ordnance systems onboard CG surface vessels.

 

Job Description

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

Includes the following:

 

  • Work independently with little oversight by the Government
  • Provide status, reports, and disposition of shipboard allowances, shipboard inventories and of mandatory returnable retrograde parts
  • Maintain total asset visibility using established Navy and Coast Guard information systems or databases; develop or maintain databases, and executive reporting systems
  • Develop and implement program provisioning documents, plans and performance measures; provide inspection service, advice, assessments, and tracking for naval weapons, fire control and electronics systems
  • Maintain and coordinate COSAL production, distribution and quality assurance IAW internal processes
  • Conduct parts availability research
  • Obtain, analyze and monitor initial outfitting lists, allowance change documentation and ILS artifacts
  • Travel to external agencies for the purpose of integrating system engineering and supply logistics management, and contribute to technical working groups, interchange meetings, program management reviews, and support equipment requirements review meetings as required
  • Enter and maintain logistics data in the Naval and Electronics Supply Support System or current CG logistics IT tool
  • Maintain required metrics and status accounting of assigned work as directed
  • Complete Defense Acquisition University courses LOG 1 and LOG 2 within a year of employment

 

Supervisory/Management Authority

 

  • This position does not have management authority or supervisory capacity

 

Education and Experience

 

The individual shall possess the listed qualifications to assist SFLC-ESD-EOB-ORDSEC primarily with MK38 Machine Gun System (MGS) supply management:

  • 3-5 years of experience as a Coast Guard or Navy Life Cycle Manager, shipboard technician, or shore-side maintenance facility supervisor
  • 5 years of experience in Coast Guard or Navy logistics systems and products, to include maintenance, casualty troubleshooting/reporting, and shipboard parts allowancing
  • 3-5 years of knowledge of Coast Guard or Navy logistics provisioning infrastructures, item management, or acquisition contract deliverables for the MK38 MGS
  • 1-3 years of experience in managing allowances, or organizing, and accounting for large inventories of equipment, piece parts, or other warehoused items
  • 1 year of experience using inventory control or management software
  • Experience working with shipping logistics infrastructures, Government Bills of Lading, Commercial Bills of Lading, or other shipping manifests
  • Experience with current CG and Navy Logistics software applications

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

  • Good command of the English language, grammar, composition, spelling, capitalization, punctuation and general terminology necessary to type a variety of material accurately
  • Skills in operating a desktop computer, printer, scanner, facsimile, and other office related equipment. Skilled in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions as assigned, such as software user manuals, correspondence procedures, and different manuals
  • Knowledge of office procedures, filing system and various references and handbooks commonly used by the staff in order to assist with the maintenance of files and/or materials
  • Knowledge of organization and functions sufficient to properly route mail and/or telephone caller to the proper individual(s)
  • Ability to work independently with little oversight by the government under direction of ORDSEC Team
  • Demonstrate good oral/ written communication skills and organizational abilities
  • Pass a drug screen and federal background check
