OEM/PPD expects to improve its ability to enable the Department to meet its obligations under the myriad of federal national security mandates and initiatives. As such, OEM/PPD expects to improve its ability to implement the Department's domestic emergency management program, which includes the ability to provide preparedness information, guidance and subject matter expertise, and timely and accurate emergency notifications to Department personnel and interagency partners.



  • The contractor shall support the Office of Emergency Management's outreach and social media accounts.  
  • Apply creativity to support development of a communications strategy that amplifies the preparedness message
  • Support and amplify participation in the National PrepareAthon! Activities and the DOS National Preparedness Fair
  • Collaborate with partners internally and externally to promote all-hazards preparedness, including for no-notice events, and continue to initiate employee preparedness events
  • Updates, monitors, and maintains OEM’s outreach social media accounts as part of Digital Engagement (Corridor, Diplopedia, Communities @ State, AskOEM)
  • Support drafting marketing and promotional products
  • Ensure OEM’s website (ePrepare) is a dynamic, up-to-date repository of all pertinent Department Preparedness information
  • Support the writing and posting of Department Notices to ensure all are completed on time with no errors
  • Support and maintain the OEM Emergency Preparedness Guides, which convey important emergency preparedness and emergency actions information that is easy to access
  • Support and participate in OEM sponsored speaking engagements. Support other OEM related outreach efforts
  • Develop localized outreach materials for each roadshow highlighting important resources and preparedness topics specific to the region


Bachelor’s Degree in management or business and 3 years of related experience.


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Public/community messaging strategies
  • Applying project management methodologies to accomplish tasks
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite products


 Controlled climate office environment.
