SUMMARY

Cherokee Nation Businesses is seeking a Mechanical Engineer HVAC Expert to advise and assist with Military Construction (MILCON) and large repair and modernization (SRM) projects throughout the Pacific.

Candidate will work as part of our company’s onsite engineering team at Hickam Air Force Base (AFB) to assist across a wide variety of projects, working directly with clients, experts, and other contractors to proactively develop project documents, investigate and solve problems, and communicate effectively throughout the project lifecycle.

Clients include Pacific Air Forces (PACAF), the Air Force Installation Mission Support Center (AFIMSC) Det 2, the Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC) at Hickam AFB, Hawaii (Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, JBPHH), and Air Force locations throughout the Pacific.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Includes the following:

  • Mechanical Engineer will provide expertise in the design, maintenance, modification, and installation of Heating Ventilating Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems used in a variety of industrial, commercial, and residential facilities.
  • Research technical and operational issues affecting the planning and execution or large projects ($5M to $500M); develop and present results of analysis; advise stakeholders and clients.
  • Assist on projects throughout the Pacific to include analysis and application of UFC and country-specific codes to HVAC issues on construction/repair of vertical facilities.
  • Work closely with Air Force, Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC), and the Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) personnel and other contractors.
  • Assist with project Planning, Programming, Engineering, Inspection, and Project Management.
  • Perform other job-related duties as required.

SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY

  • This is not a supervisory position, but will require providing mentorship, peer review assistance, and technical and professional leadership to colleagues (Cherokee, other contractors, and government personnel).

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Eight-years of relevant experience working with private, public, or military facilities and requirements.
  • Experience managing projects/programs with similar complexity with US Air Force, Army, Navy, or Marine Corps.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field, or equivalent experience; advanced degree is a plus.
  • PMP desired.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Demonstrated record of accomplishment of working across disciplines such as contracting, engineering, finance, contractors, and stakeholders so proactively anticipate and solve project issues.
  • Knowledge of construction processes for DoD OCONUS main operating bases.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Air Force NACI/SF85 for unescorted access to on-base facilities.
  • Excellent English communication and computer skills.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Office environment on US military base (PACAF HQ building).
  • Requires international travel that could exceed 25%.

CLEARANCE

  • Public Trust clearance required.
