SUMMARY

Plumbing Apprentice was established for the purpose of working with a journeyman plumber and to assist by helping and learning to maintain plumbing systems, identifying repair and/or replacement needs, and ensuring adequate materials are available to complete assignments in a timely manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follow all safety procedures set forth by the company.
  • Take OSHA 10 hour class within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Follow the direction of the mechanic to accomplish tasks within the job schedule.
  • Maintain proper order of job site, and proper material organization.
  • Learn proper use of tools and equipment to ensure safe operation.
  • Learn proper joining method of all fittings, and ductwork.
  • Follow State Apprenticeship regulations and attend all appropriate classes and training required.
  • Tests for leaks in new and repaired systems with compressed air and/or water for the purpose of ensuring that items are functional and in safe working condition.
  • Transports various items (e.g. tools, equipment, supplies, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials required at
  • Attend all company meetings.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • Enroll In State Registered Apprenticeship Program
  • Must have valid driver’s license

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must be able to:

  • Stand or walk for long periods of time during a regular work day;
  • use arms and hands to reach for,
  • handle and manipulate objects;
  • lift and carry materials weighing 50 to 100 pounds;
  • climb up and down ladders, scaffolds and other climbing devices;
  • carry tools and equipment; work while in stooped, kneeling, crouched, and crawling positions;
  • be able to see naturally or with correction, to safely perform designated tasks
