The Physical Access Control & Surveillance Systems Engineer provides reactive and proactive operational support for the customer’s enterprise physical access control system.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Deliverables):

Includes the following:

  • Provides the day-to-day technical support services necessary to the operation, maintenance, modification and enhancements of the PAC system.
  • Provides support in the less technical disciplines of IT, such as system operations, system configuration, system diagnosis and checkout, equipment installation, data entry and verification, media duplication, document control and software installation.
  • Participates and validates application content during system field and design document review and online operational checkouts.
  • Performs as a member of a team or as a Team Lead as required.
  • Provides resolution to EPACS Tier 1/2 non-ldentiv related issues as well as demonstrates an expert knowledge of IRS Tier 1/Tier 2 IRS problem ticket management procedures and the use of the IRS KISAM Service Manager on a 24x7x365 basis to troubleshoot and resolve customer incidents.
  • Demonstrates an expert knowledge of ldentiv Velocity Hardware component installation procedures to include: Review and qualitative analysis of complex EPACS Door Group Design documents.
  • Expert knowledge of video surveillance systems including system installation & maintenance, components, current industry trends and standards, experience with govt agency enterprise video management software systems as well as video surveillance integration with PACS and IDS.
  • Perform all physical access control infrastructure system programming including site door group design, card holder mapping, hardware connection mapping and properties configuration. Perform site system acceptance testing for project buildings. Monitor system configurations and system performance daily.
  • Ensure EPACS infrastructure configurations are maintained at the current sites.
  • Must be available for travel at government direction.           

Supervisory/Management Authority:

This position will perform as a Team Lead when required.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Identiv Certification
  • Knowledge of Identiv systems installation, configuration and startup integrated into overall security systems with IDS and video control.
  • Knowledge of network implementation and network media in the representative areas of ISDN, FDDI, SONET, ATM, Ethernet, and similar network topologies and protocols.
  • High School Education or GED required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate highly technical information to both technical and nontechnical users.
  • Detailed oriented and has excellent customer Service Skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Team members shall demonstrate previous experience and knowledge of installing, configuring, integrating, and testing hubs/concentrators, bridges, routers, servers, gateways, network switching devices, and/or multiplexed information systems and command and control systems.
  • Proficiency in configuring Microsoft applications, operating systems, and databases or similar systems of network software products.
  • Must possess an excellent knowledge of networks, network management, and computer security practices, processes, and procedures.
  • Experience in practical application of physical security, administrative security and other processes that effect network and physical access control systems’ security.
  • Must be proficient in data communication protocols and standards (e.g. IEEE 802.3, TIA-485-A, DoD Standards.)
  • Ability to analyze the capabilities and deficiencies in security systems and networks.
  • Ability to analyze security system devices and components from multiple vendors
  • Must have prior experience in working in a technical assistance call center environment.
  • Must be certified in Identiv Hardware and Software installation, configuration, diagnostics, and operations.
  • Three years’ operating and maintaining an enterprise class Physical Access Control System and one year working as a service desk assistor.
  • The government may at its discretion waive experience requirements.
  • Familiarity with JIRA Service Desk, Agile IO Suite, Sharepoint, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Good working knowledge and understanding of SLA’s.
  • Proficient in creating and maintaining user manuals and/or help desk guides.
  • Ability to successfully pass a Federal Background Investigation and Drug Screen.

Work Environment:

This position allows work to be remote. Some travel is required.
