Cherokee Nation Businesses – Federal Solutions, is looking for an PMO Project Manager. This exciting opportunity will leverage the candidate’s leadership ability and deep experience in Federal Contract negotiation and administration. With a $120 million in annual revenue, 20% growth per year, approximately 200 contracts and 750+ employees, Cherokee Nation Businesses’ (CNB) group of Federal Contracting Section 8(a) companies is well positioned to deliver expertise needed to solve complex technical issues. Federal Solutions provides an array of services for 12 of the 15 cabinet-level departments and agencies – from applications and data services to cybersecurity and national defense.

The position can be located San Antonio TX, Lakewood CO, Washington D.C. or Tulsa OK.

SUMMARY

Apply Project Management expertise in support of the mission of the Project Management Office (PMO) to establish and maintain a high-quality project management framework across the organization. This position will conduct training needs assessments, develop training materials and job aides, and conduct in-person training. This position will also support other areas of the PMO related to process improvement, monitoring project financials and other data to identify potential concerns, and provide adhoc support to project managers across the business as-needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Includes the following:

  • Make recommendations regarding training and readiness of project managers.
  • Devise and implement training plans, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Design, develop, and distribute a variety of training and job aides for the efficient operation and training of project managers.
  • Compile best practices and industry trend knowledge, and implements as appropriate into the team’s work processes and projects.
  • Assess the validity of current business processes and the effectiveness of existing policies and procedures, and develop sound alternatives and recommendations for improvements.
  • Contribute to future state business process review and work sessions with teams from multiple departments.
  • Identify, communicate, and monitor project risk to appropriate management to help ensure risk mitigation occurs.
  • Maintain a strong working relationship with Project Managers and key stakeholders across all departments
  • Facilitate communication and coordination across project teams and departments.
  • Assist in evaluating and developing project plans.
  • Evaluate project issues and recommend possible courses of action, as requested.
  • Performs special projects, as requested.
  • Performs other job related duties as required.

 

SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY

Lead and/or guide the work of other employees without having direct supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree in related field and 5 years of experience in federal government contracting or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Working knowledge of project management, creating and implementing project schedules, and managing project teams and budgets.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; must be able to communicate difficult issues in simple terms.
  • Good planning, problem solving, and research abilities.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills; ability to analyze business processes, projects, policies, and procedures and have the ability to recognize issues and make solution-oriented recommendations.
  • Excellent leadership skills and customer service.

  • Ability to simultaneously work on multiple assignments.
  • Ability to engage all organizational employees; demonstrate the capability to interface and maintain effective relationships with all departments.
  • Possess a positive attitude and reliable work ethic, demonstrate superior professionalism and ethics, while working in a very flexible environment; also display a strong sense of confidence in his or her abilities to provide sound business recommendations; maintains professionalism during interface with management, internal/external customers, and vendors.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position is primarily performed in a climate controlled office setting. Occasional travel and overnight stay may be required.
