Program Specialist Washington, DC (ID #13352)

Provide a professional service employee to serve as a Program Specialist. The Program Specialist for the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs (WHA), Office of Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs (WHA/PDA) assists in the development of strategies for advancing U.S. policies, interests, values and culture abroad through effective public diplomacy (PD) programs and initiatives; supports the coordination with other bureaus and USG agencies for briefings for Western Hemisphere audiences in support of U.S. policies; and provides administrative and logistics support for implementation of PD priority programs, assists in the coordination of programs with implementing partners.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Coordinates briefings and programming activities of International Visitors and other exchange visitors from the Western Hemisphere.

• Assists in the preliminary review and analysis of public diplomacy (PD) grant proposals for the Cultural Coordinator and Education/100,000 Strong (100K Strong) in the Americas Coordinator, Policy and Coordination Officer, and PD Desk Officers or others responsible for programs in support of regional policy objectives.

• Provides back up support for the Cultural Coordinator and Education/100K Strong Coordinator and other regional initiatives.

• Assists in coordination of WAE and TDY coverage and all associated logistics.

• Serves as the back-up Office Administrator to the Office Management Specialist on travel and administration functions for WHA/PDA.

• Serves as the Bureau's liaison with Office of Language Services for the translation of reports and speeches; coordinates conference and workshops including logistics, budget and content with support from the OMS.

 

EDUCATON AND EXPERIENCE

• Excellent drafting and communication skills and ability to collaborate with people.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and SharePoint.

• Excellent time management skills and ability to proactively follow-up on multiple tasks. Good judgement

  and problem solving skills.

• Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to evaluate proposals and make recommendations

  based on policy priorities and proposal strength.

 Controlled climate office environment.
