SUMMARY

We are seeking a Protection Specialist to review, plan and execute all activities related to the functional areas of Mission Assurance (MA) and Physical Security for the Marine Forces Reserve (MARFORRES). 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in conducting MA Program Reviews, MA Assessments, risk, vulnerability and physical security assessments/surveys of MARFORRES, Major Subordinate Commands (MSC) and Reserve Training Centers (RTC).
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on MARFORRES policy involving Mission Assurance. 
  • Serve as an authority for the management and execution of the MARFORRES Mission Assurance program. 
  • Coordinate and de-conflict policy and procedures as gleaned from multiple Department of Defense, Combatant Commander, military and government policies. 
  • Prepare a monthly report that provides a synopsis of the Mission Assurance Program. 

SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY

This position will not have supervisory authority.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • A High School Diploma is required, Bachelor’s Degree is preferred
  • 7 years of US Military experience in a related position or field is required (U.S. Marine Corp. experience is preferred & highly desired).
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral & written
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
  • Demonstrate the ability to carry out support tasks related to security administration as presented.
  • An active Secret Clearance is mandatory.
  • Travel of up to 50% per month will be required

  • The employee selected will need the knowledge to serve as a subject matter expert on MARFORRES policy involving Mission Assurance.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in evaluating and training the twelve functional areas of Mission Assurance including:

    • Physical Security
    • Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, High-yield Explosives (CBRNe)
    • Continuity of Operations
    • Foreign Disclosure
    • Foreign Travel
    • Critical Infrastructure Protection
    • Emergency Management
    • Operations Security
    • Pandemic Influenza
    • Violence Protection Program

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The duties of this position are 50% performed in a climate controlled office environment and the remainder is conducting site inspections of Marine Corps Reserve Centers – both exterior and interior spaces. Regular travel and overnight stay will be required.
