Summary

CNSP is seeking a Psychological Health & Resilience Deputy Portfolio Manager to support the Defense Health Program Enhancement (DHP) operational medical research program and Military Operational Medicine Research Program (MOMRP). While performing scientific portfolio analyses, monitoring scientific progress of research effort and assisting in the development of comprehensive, integrated strategic approaches to solving Department of Defense problems in the domain of military operational medicine.

The MOMRP USAMRMC manage an extensive portfolio of research aimed at developing effective countermeasures against stressors to maximize health, performance and well-being throughout the Deployment Cycle. The broad program is organized into four program areas: Injury Prevention and Reduction, Psychological Health and Resilience, Physiological Health, and Environmental Health and Protection. Each area represents efforts to develop guidelines and criteria to predict, prevent and mitigate physical and psychological injury and contribute to the shared responsibility of enabling our Armed Forces and providing them with the best care possible.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Advise and support the Psychological Health & Resilience Deputy Portfolio Services in the following criteria:

  • Provide back up to the Psychological Health & Resilience Portfolio Manager
  • Advise the MOMRP Director and Deputy Director on planning, budgeting and execution of research relating to psychiatry & clinical psychology disorders
  • Review all pre- and full proposals
  • Make recommendations for approving and disapproving research projects
  • Advise the MOMRP Director and Deputy Director on the scientific quality, merit and military relevance of psychological health & resilience research performed by the MOMRP’s supporting laboratories and extramural performers
  • Advise the Director and Deputy Director and assist in the development of goals and objectives for the Psychological Health & Resilience Research Program
  • Assist in composing technical summaries of MOMRP-sponsored research projects
  • Assist in preparing and submitting MOMRP management documents and Congressional reports
  • Assist in preparing requests for information and suspense actions requiring MOMRP responses regarding the Psychological Health & Resilience Research Program
  • Assist in planning and coordinating MOMRP-sponsored technical meetings, workshops, and peer reviews on psychological health & resilience topics
  • Review project Close-Out Reports, develop MOMRP closeout summary documents and consolidate any actionable findings across the MOMRP

 

Supervisory/Management Authority

  • This position does not have management authority or supervisory capacity

 

Education and Experience

  • PhD in Clinical Psychology
  • Three years’ experience as a Research Psychologist
  • Three years’ experience in a DOD Research environment

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to work independently with little oversight by the government under direction of MOMRP Team
  • Demonstrate good oral/ written communication skills and organizational abilities
  • Excellent analytical skills and working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs are required
  • Ability to pass a drug screen and federal background check

  • This position is primarily performed in an office setting in a controlled office setting
