The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Center for State, Tribal, Local and Territorial Support (CSTLTS) supports cross-agency activities and efforts to improve public health at the state, tribal, local and territorial levels by building capacity in  public health infrastructure and practice, resource and asset management, performance and accountability, workforce development and shared leadership to improve public health outcomes.


CSTLTS is in need of a Public Health Advisor/Analyst for Partnership Development, Stakeholder Management, and Issues Management



  • Design and execute legal epidemiological studies including legal mapping.
  • Write and publish case studies, issue briefs, research anthologies, and other papers on legal epidemiology and other health laws and policies.
  • Develop and give posters and presentations both internally and at national conferences.
  • Research and develop responses to issues and inquiries from states, localities, the public, and CDC partners related to health laws and policies.
  • Collaborate with partner centers at the CDC as well as STLT partners to develop research projects.
  • Support CSTLTS in developing and fostering partnerships through consultation, technical assistance, and training on program and project implementation with internal and external groups. These trainings include guidance on legal epidemiology and environmental health laws.
  • Assist with planning, development, and execution of standard operating procedures and improvements on cross-cutting priority areas, such as project officer development, CDC field staff development, and overall grants optimization.

  • MPH and/or JD with major study in an academic field relating to the health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position and experience working in a public health setting
  • 7+ years' experience in a public health setting
  • Previous experience with CDC CSTLTS programs, policies and procedures highly desired.


  • Ability to conduct legal research
  • Exceptional organization skills with ability to effectively manage multiple projects and priorities
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to implement a proactive approach to problem-solving


Work is conducted in a climate controlled office environment.  The environment may require prolonged sitting, prolonged standing, and light lifting up to 20 lbs.
