Researcher II


Cherokee Nation Technologies (CNT) supports federal clients and partners in their efforts to support coastal restoration monitoring, and assessment programs, and projects. The successful candidate will provide support for incorporating monitoring into coastal restoration and protection efforts including, monitoring and restoration data analysis and reporting. The selected candidate may be required to occasionally travel to attend meetings with clients and partners.

CNT is looking for a Researcher to support federal clients in coastal restoration monitoring, and assessment programs and projects as described in this Task Order. The selected candidate shall develop monitoring plans, perform data analysis, and develop integrated reports and presentations regarding ecosystem monitoring data. Researcher will also be required to provide review of monitoring plans for consistency, practicality, and applicability to regional and Gulfwide restoration efforts and analyze collected data to determine the effects of restoration efforts in the Gulf of Mexico.

This will require the selected Researcher to attend in person and virtual meetings (webinar/conference call) involving cooperators from USGS, other DOI, other Federal agencies and the five coastal states: Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida.

On an ad hoc basis, the Researcher shall provide support of basic lab analyses with ongoing experiments with instructions and oversight from CNT supervisors based on client requirements



By the 10th of each month, a monthly report describing the progress and status of work shall be provided following a certain format that will be provided.

CNT prefers the successful candidate who possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, Environmental Science, or Biology with an emphasis on ecologic studies, or a related field and have at least 3-5 years of experience working in a research setting.

A Master’s Degree could substitute for required experience. The successful candidate shall also be proficient at oral and written English-language communication.



  • Knowledge of the science involved in ecosystems and ecosystem restoration
  • demonstrated skills in the management of environmental projects and programs
  • ability to organize work teams and produce quality work products
  • technical writing and oral communications skills
  • ability to perform basic lab analyses with instruction and oversight
  • experience in data analysis, integration, and reporting
  • superior organizational skills and demonstrated ability to work independently
  • computer literacy in basic Microsoft Office programs
  • familiarity with monitoring principles is preferred, but not required



Office environment, local travel to support the above tasks may be needed.
