Cherokee Nation Strategic Programs (CNSP) supports Defense and other Federal clients in the execution of their critical strategic and operational missions, with emphasis in intelligence, vulnerability assessment, and special operations.

SUMMARY

We are seeking a Security Operations Specialist to assist the Mission Assurance Department in accomplishing scheduled Joint Mission Assurance Assessments (JMAA), Mobile Training Team events, special assessments, and Higher Headquarters Program Reviews coordinated by the Joint Staff J-3. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct assessment of an installation/facility’s ability to protect personnel, critical assets, and missions from physical attacks and ability to deter, detect, defend and respond to an attack. 
  • Reviewing protection related plans and procedures and provide feedback to improve the documents.
  • Assessing access control points against established criteria for personnel and vehicle access. Use the design basis threat to determine vulnerabilities.
  • Assessing physical protection of critical infrastructure, high population facilities, and critical assets using the applicable threats/hazards to determine the vulnerability and risk.
  • Evaluating electronic security systems to determine if they meet performance objectives.
  • Develop vulnerability assessment reports identifying observation/finding, applicable hazard/threat, mission impact, discussion of the issue, and developing risk responses.
  • Conducting other assessment areas defined by the SME Benchmark matrix.

 

SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY

This position will not have supervisory authority.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Top SECRET / SCI eligible
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 5 years working the areas of Physical Security, US Army or USMC Military Police, or USAF Security Forces.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to effectively communicate via written and oral means.
  • Ability to evaluate protection plans and provide recommendations
  • Knowledge of risk management concepts employed by DoD or Department of Homeland Security.
  • Understanding of Electronic Security Systems.
  • Experience conducting vulnerability assessments in the Physical Security discipline.
  • Ability to write assessment reports that can be understood at multiple levels.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks with little to no supervision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The duties of this position are performed in a climate controlled office environment. Occasional travel and overnight stay may be required.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Mission Assurance Assessment Program is designed to support commanders’ risk management processes, providing an assessment of potential risk to assets determined as critical to the execution of strategic missions.
