We are seeking a Senior Coordinator to support federally regulated research requirements to develop new medical products for the Warfighter including but not limited to support necessary to conduct clinical trials, analyze resulting data, and generate study reports.

The mission of our client, the Walter Reed Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR), is to conduct biomedical research that is responsive to Department of Defense and U.S. Army requirements, and delivers lifesaving products including knowledge, technology, and medical materiel that sustain the combat effectiveness of the war fighter

Senior Coordinator

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Interviews patients for protocols and collects and analyzes appropriate data for recruitment purposes, determines patient commitment and obtains informed consent.
  • Reviews new patient records and screens patients for eligibility for participating in research protocol.
  • Administers appropriate drugs/devices/infusions to patients as specified in protocols. Required to draw blood and obtain other specimens as specified in protocols.
  • Educates patients about the research protocol, their roles in the protocols, and any other vital information and acts as a research case manager for the patients where appropriate.
  • Identifies problems in the research design or analysis methodology and trends in patient reactions to treatment.
  • Collects, organizes, catalogs, disseminates, and maintains appropriate files of current data.
  • Determines whether data is clinically significant and reports results that warrant prompt action to the physicians.
  • Maintains weekly/monthly status reports on all patients.
  • Acts as a liaison between patients and physicians and serves as a resource for the patients.
  • Prepares and maintains manual and computerized data in patient study books according to prescribed standards.
  • Transcribes and resolves queries of data in case report forms (hardcopy or electronic) and prepares documents, under direction of project heads, reporting statistical analyses and descriptive data from patient's study books to be used in research reports.
  • Adheres to legal, professional and ethical codes with respect to confidentiality and privacy. Assures that protocol requirements are achieved within Good Clinical Practice.
  • Prepares and coordinates with monitoring audits/visits for a protocol.
  • Communicates with other research staff from other sites and external organizations to obtain research materials and/or coordinate patient care for research protocols.
  • Travels from their assigned workplace to support protocols at other sites as needed.
  • Reviews study documents during the development phase with investigators.
  • Writes and updates SOPs where appropriate.
  • Serves as a mentor to less experienced staff.
  • Schedules patients for appointments and visits.
  • Performs other duties as needed.

Supervisory/Management Authority

  • This position will have supervisory authority.

Education and/or Experience

  • At least 3 years clinical trials experience and must be a Registered Nurse.  Managerial and personnel experience is required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a favorable National Agency Check (NAC).
  • Must be a US citizen.

 

Work Environment

Work is conducted in a laboratory, office or clinical/hospital environment; possible evening and/or weekend hours. Requires work on military base with requirement for background investigation.
