Job Description:

Cherokee Nation Businesses is seeking two Senior Engineers to provide engineering expertise for facility construction and repair in the Pacific on an as-needed/hourly basis (est. 8-30 hours/week). Candidate will work as part of our company’s on-site engineering team in support of MILCON and FSRM project planning, design reviews, and execution management.

In particular we are seeking:

  • Expert in Airfield Pavements for design reviews, project planning, and problem solving during execution of repair and construction projects.
  • MILCON project management expert with current, applicable familiarity with AFCEC, USACE, or NAVFAC project execution in the Pacific.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Deliverables):

Includes the following (Other duties may be assigned):

  • Technical reviews of project documents in relevant area of work during all phases or the project lifecycle (planning, design, execution, etc.).
  • Project work will include analysis and application of UFCs to design and construction of horizontal and vertical facilities. Provide detailed technical reviews in functional engineering area in writing and orally at meetings.
  • Must be able to work with a wide cross section of clients (e.g., engineers, real property, contracting) and Cherokee employees to find solutions for the repair, modernization, and construction of military facilities and infrastructure. 

Supervisory/Management Authority:

  • This is not a supervisory position, but may require mentorship, peer review assistance, and technical and professional leadership to colleagues (Cherokee, other contractors, and government personnel).


Education and/or Experience:

  • Ten years of relevant experience working with US military/DoD facilities and requirements.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or relevant field; advanced degree or certification is a plus.
  • PMP desired.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Experience reviewing or managing programs with similar complexity with US Air Force, Army, Navy, or Marine Corps.
  • Demonstrated record of accomplishment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Air Force NACI/SF85 for unescorted access to on-base facilities and access to government computer systems.
  • Excellent English communication and computer skills.
