Senior Environmental Engineer

 The Air Force Civil Engineering Center (AFCEC), headquartered in San Antonio, TX, is responsible for providing responsive, flexible full-spectrum installation engineering services. AFCEC missions include facility investment planning, design and construction, operations support, real property management, energy support, environmental compliance and restoration, and audit assertions, acquisition and program management. The unit conducts its operations at more than 75 locations worldwide.

 

We are looking for a Senior Environmental Engineer to assist with the US Air Force’s environmental program requirements, development and analysis

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Candidate will provide specialized environmental restoration support for the client   
  • Analysis of policy and guidance that impact Air Force environmental restoration programs
  • Technical writing to support the Air Force Technology Transfer program
  • Evaluation of current remedial systems for optimization
  • Evaluation of procedures and technologies including those required to address emerging contaminants, particularly perfluorinated compounds, in groundwater and surface water
  • Conduct technical presentations to management and professional/tactful coordination with a variety of project stakeholders

 

Qualifications:

 

  • A master’s degree from an accredited discipline university in Engineering, Architecture, Project Management, or Facility Management, or related field is required.
  • At least ten (10) years of experience in environmental restoration accomplished under the Resource Conservation & Recovery Act (RCRA) and the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA).
  • Experience with the Air Force environmental restoration program.
  • Knowledge of state and federal environmental regulations, Defense Environmental Restoration Program (DERP) and Federal Acquisition Regulations
  • Experience conducting effective technical presentations to client management and professional/tactful coordination with a variety of project stakeholders.
  • Experience evaluating remedial systems for optimization, including fuels and chlorinated solvents
  • Experience interacting with state and federal environmental regulatory agencies.
  • Experience modeling environmental remediation systems (fate and transport of environmental contaminants).
  • Experience working Green and Sustainable Remediation (GSR) Initiatives with United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) preferred
  • Experience with assessing chemicals or materials as emerging issues/emerging contaminants preferred
  • Good organizational skills and excellent communication skills both oral and written
  • Ability to multitask and meet aggressive deadlines
  • US Citizenship and DoD government security clearance NACI required
