CNMC is looking for a Cherokee Nation Businesses is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to support Cherokee and the 718 Civil Engineering Squadron (CES) at Kadena Air Base, Japan to help oversee the execution of facility repair and construction projects.  The 718 CES engineering flight directs more than $1B in US- and host nation-funded programs. We are under contract to provide the 718 CES with assistance in managing the planning, programming, design, and construction program for locations managed by 718 engineering flight.

Candidate will work as part of our company’s on-site engineering team to assist across a variety of facility repair and construction projects throughout the lifecycle of project management. The Inspector will work with clients, experts, and other contractors to develop project documents proactively, anticipate project needs, and communicate effectively.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership to a team of 5-10 Cherokee staff (engineers, planners, inspectors, etc.) and to the client in managing the revitalization of all military facilities in Okinawa.
  • Must be able to work with a wide cross section of clients (e.g., engineers, real property, contracting) and Cherokee employees to find solid win-win solutions using internal Air Force civil works and procurement processes for the repair, modernization, and construction of housing-related facilities and infrastructure. This work supports highly visible initiatives including the restructuring of US forces between Okinawa, Guam, and other locations.
  • Performs other job related duties as required.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Candidates will be required to undergo a US federal government background investigation and favorably pass a drug screen test.
  • Candidates must have a valid US passport whose expiration date is at least one year from the positions start date.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Air Force NACI/SF85 for unescorted access to on-base facilities and access to government computer systems.
  • Candidates and their immediate family members will be subject to the Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) while residing in Japan.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience working with US military/DoD facilities and requirements.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in architecture, engineering, or construction; advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience leading diverse team of engineers and other professionals; supervisory experience strongly preferred.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Air Force NACI/SF85 for unescorted access to on-base facilities and access to government computer systems.
  • Excellent English communication and computer skills.
  • PMP desired

Supervisory/Management Authority:

  • This is not a supervisory position, but will require providing mentorship, peer review assistance, and technical and professional leadership to colleagues (Cherokee, other contractors, and US government and/or military personnel).

  • Provide technical leadership to team of engineers, project managers, programmers, and inspectors

Work Environment:

  • Both outdoors and/or indoor controlled office environment on a US military base in Japan
  • Requires local travel to project sites in Okinawa, Japan.
