The Senior Software Developer position requires the right candidate to be a full stack developer responsible for initial design and development of new software and extensive software revisions. Candidate must be able to define product requirements and create high-level architectural specifications. Must work well within a small team as well as independently to ensure tasks are completed within the appropriate timeframe.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Includes the following:

  •  Develop, test, implement and maintain multiple software systems as a full stack developer
  • Write test suites to automatically test authored code for compatibility, bugs, and technical inaccuracies
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and develop ways to improve applications
  • Create and maintain accurate technical documentation
  • Create and manage REST APIs
  • Manipulate, analyze, and ingest various data types
  • Adhere to project feature implementation deadlines
  • Produce a monthly report on development activities
  • Communicate with team members and customers daily through various media (orally, written, electronically)
  • Work in an Agile and Scrum environment while maintaining multiple projects simultaneously within sprints

  • This position does not have management authority or supervisory capacity


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, or a Bachelor’s Degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science
  • Years of experience can substitute for education requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with implementing technical formulas based on calculus and statistics.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a full stack developer
  • Minimum of 3 years in developing in object-oriented programming
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with web application framework that ties a database back-end to an HTML web-based front-end (Spring Framework, MVC, JSP)
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with Linux and other open source software
  • Experience using Docker and GitHub
  • Experience developing with JavaScript, Angular 4, React, or Vue.js
  • Working knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases
  • Experience with Python is preferred
  • Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB is preferred

  • Ability to work on a self-managing Agile team
  • Ability to create data driven software
  • Interested in science and mathematics.
  • Create software design documents, architecture plans, and requirements
  • Effectively produce full-stack web development with little to no guidance
  • Provide solutions that address usability, utility and functionality
  • Effectively apply the concepts of iterative design and development
  • Must be able to pass a background check



Work Environment

  • This position is primarily in a secured federal office setting, a controlled office environment
