Job Description:

The Software Engineer will…

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :


  • Under the direction of the assigned project leader, implement new features in to various software systems
  • Using Git version control and GitHub, update the private and main branches of the respective project on various intervals as directed by the project leader
  •  Adhere to project feature implementation deadlines, as directed by the project leader
  • Instruction on new features and deadlines may be done via verbal instruction, written communication (e.g. email), or JIRA tasks
  • Interim builds shall be made on intervals as directed by the project leader with no more than three (3) unresolved technical defects
  • Implement new features included with the Interim Build
  • Release update intervals on timelines established by the project leader, not to exceed three (3) business days overdue
  • Write test suites to automatically test authored code for compatibility, bugs, and technical inaccuracies
  • Develop Code Tests for all new feature implementation or feature
  • Produce a monthly report on development activities for submission to the Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR)
  • Document Code thoroughly and accurately, not to exceed two (2) unresolved technical inaccuracies
  • Provide Monthly reports to the COR on a monthly schedule as designated by the COR
  • Adhere to all ITS software development policies (i.e. code style guidelines, etc.) when developing code


Supervisory/Management Authority:

This position does not have management authority or supervisory capacity

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or Bachelor’s degree with 30 hours in a combination of math, statistics and computer science.
  • 3 or more years of experience in the following areas:
  • Create software design documents, architecture plans, and requirements.
  • Implement technical formulas based on calculus and statistics.
  • Experience with Python
  • Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB
  • Experience with Docker, Puppet, and Ansible


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Plan and track software development tasks under Agile project management and Git source control
  • Design advanced software from scratch using object-oriented development design patterns and strategies
  • Consume, create, and secure REST APIs
  • Develop Javascript single-page web applications using Vue.js, React, or Angular 4
  • Working knowledge of SQL and noSQL databases.
  • Create applications using Linux and open-source software
  • Develop test plans, develop and execute automated test scripts, and fix software bugs
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to interact well with stakeholders, project leaders, senior management, and team members

Work Environment:

This position is primarily in a secured federal office setting, a controlled office environment
