SUMMARY

The position will provide professional health communication and project management support for communication and partnership projects developed by the Division of Laboratory Systems

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides support to client in designing national surveys, record linkage techniques, and imputation techniques for missing values in data related to laboratory health systems data.
  • Plans, designs, coordinates, and executes statistical studies/projects :in collaboration with DLS programs in the areas of health systems research and performance evaluation of public health laboratory systems.
  • Prepare Statistical Analysis Plans (SAPs), and ensure that proposed methods are detailed, complete, accurate, rigorous, and methodologically correct.
  • Execute statistical studies/projects by designing surveys, questionnaires, experiments, and opinion polls to collect the laboratory health systems data
  • Determine the type and size of the sample to be surveyed or polled, and imputation techniques for missing values in data
  • Analyze and identify trends and relationships within the data
  • Conduct tests to determine the data’s validity and to account for high survey nonresponse rates or sampling error
  • Present the findings from analyses (written reports, tables, charts, and graphs) and discuss the data’s limitations in order to prevent inaccurate conclusions from being drawn
  • Prepare statistical summaries that include tables, listings, and figures, together with their p-values and other inferential statistics as appropriate
  • Delivers briefings and presents technical papers to management.

SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY

  • No supervisory authority

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Masters or Phd in Statistics, Applied Math, Econometrics or closely related field.
  • Experience using statistical modeling software.
  • Experience using mathematical and statistical methods to develop alternatives and solutions to problems
  • Experience designing research projects, estimating data, analysis, and reporting and presenting results

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
  • Ability to work effectively independently and within teams across functional areas
  • Experience in the development, use, and evaluation of mathematics models, methods, and/or techniques (e.g., algorithm development) to study issues and solve problems

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Work is conducted in a climate controlled office environment.
  • The environment may require prolonged sitting, prolonged standing, and light lifting up to 20 lbs.
