PROGRAM SUMMARY 

The Air Force Civil Engineering Center (AFCEC) is responsible for providing responsive, flexible full-spectrum installation engineering services. AFCEC’s missions include facility investment planning, design and construction, operations support, real property management, energy support, environmental compliance and restoration, and audit assertions, acquisition and program management. The unit conducts its operations at more than 75 locations worldwide.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The candidate selected for this position will support the implementation of Federal, DoD, and Air Force sustainable design requirements for Air Force design and construction projects.  Job duties include validation of compliance with sustainable design requirements, including achievement of facility energy reduction goals and performance of life cycle cost analyses.  Candidate will utilize mechanical engineering design expertise to guide the selection and design of facility energy consuming systems, including HVAC systems.  Candidate would perform a lead role in the Air Force tracking of project compliance with sustainability requirements for the Air Force’s worldwide design and construction program.

 

SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY

None

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering
  • Professional Engineering license in mechanical engineering
  • Minimum of 10 years of construction industry experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience performing life cycle cost analyses and facility energy analyses, and/or performing design of facilities achieving LEED Certification (any level) or in compliance with DoD Sustainability Design Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • LEED AP BD&C strongly preferred
  • Experience with Department of Defense (DoD) sustainability policies and standards is preferred
  • Experience with Air Force Civil Engineering MILCON and Facility Sustainment, Repair, Modernization programs is preferred
