Systems Simulation Engineer, Boulder, CO (ID#15501)

SUMMARY

The Systems Simulation Engineer position consists of software programing plus electrical and mathematical engineering. Experience with OPNET, NS-3, SystemVue, or similar simulation software for wireless and wired simulations and developing custom simulation tools in software using Matlab, Python, etc. is essential.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Includes the following:

  • Simulation plan development – Must be able to design, develop, and revise simulation plans within a specified timeframe meeting documented requirements.
  • Simulation Execution – Initiate, prepare, and conduct, system simulations according to approved plans.
  • Simulation Timeliness – Simulations must be completed in accordance with planned and approved timelines.
  • Meeting Attendance – Attend and actively participate in planning meetings with project staff.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues / defects and develop ways to improve simulations
  • Analysis Results – Analyze results from system simulations
  • Analysis Timeliness – Analysis of results must completed within planned and approved timelines
  • Create and maintain accurate technical documentation
  • Adhere to scheduled deadlines

SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY

None

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field, from an ABET-accredited institution, with at least eight (8) years specialized experience, OR
  • Master of Science degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field, from an ABET-accredited institution, with at least four (4) years specialized experience, OR
  • PhD degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field, from an ABET-accredited institution, with at least one (1) year specialized experience.
  • Experience in Wireless and Wired Network Simulation with networking access technologies such as WiFi, LTE, IEEE 802.3, and others listed in Section 3.1.
  • Familiarity with system/network simulation tools (e.g. NS3, OPNET, SystemVue, etc.) and/or developing custom simulation tools in software (e.g. using Matlab, Python, etc.)
  • Experience in using Git version control.
  • Experience or education (above the undergraduate level) in probability theory.
  • Experience in performance analysis of networks containing itinerant elements.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Interested in science and mathematics
  • Deliver simulation plans, results, technical documentation, etc. within the specified schedule
  • Effectively design, implement, and analysis data simulations with little to no guidance
  • Provide solutions that address defects and issues within the simulation process
  • Must be able to pass a background check

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position is primarily in a secured federal office setting, a controlled office environment.
