Technical Writer/Editor, Baltimore, MD, US  ID#16208

We have an immediate need for a  Technical Writer/ Editor to support the U.S. Coast Guard’s Surface Forces Logistics Center’s Technical Information Management Branch with conversion and publication of technical data products.  Conversion includes transformation of MS Word source documents in eXtensible Markup Language (XML) templates to PDF for final publication.

The Technical Information Management Branch is a part of the Surface Forces Logistics Center’s located in Baltimore, Maryland.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Includes the following:

  1. Develop, publish, amend, and maintain technical data products including maintenance procedure cards, time compliance technical orders, and technical standards.
  2. Produce indexes and change documentation.
  3. Create manuals
  4. Attend Meetings and Conferences as directed by the COR
  5. Complete other ad-hoc requests for technical data as required.

 

SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY

Does not have management or supervisory responsibility.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Experience creating/ modifying documents using publishing software is desired
  • Working knowledge of word processing is required.
  • Minimum education requirement of an Associate’s degree; two (2) years of task related experience; or a combination of education and experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • 1-3 years of experience providing data entry and data management support.
  • Demonstrate good oral/ written communication skills.
  • Ability to develop written documents, track requirements, and other project specific tasks as needed.
  • Have the ability to pass a NACI background investigation and obtain a government issued Common Access Card (CAC).
